Inspecting retaining walls beside an operating railway creates access constraints. For this project in Liestal, the image acquisition approach needed to work without a drone.
Approximately 13,000 images were captured at a resolution of 0.15–0.20 mm per pixel using an industrial-grade handheld camera. Our trained deep learning models were then used to segment and quantify cracks.
The survey was completed without interrupting rail traffic. The resulting crack pattern and estimated width supported detailed condition assessment.
